Asian Makeup Asian Makeup , Asian Makeup | | In: Latest

The Essential beauty and makeup guide for Asian Women: Asian Faces (Written by renowned makeup artist Taylor Chang-Babaian) is an amazing book with loads of ideas geared towards applying makeup for Asian women of all ages and ethnicities. You will learn the correct way to apply make-up to accentuate Asian women’s features, tips on selecting undertones for Asian skin, which varies from yellow undertones to orange undertones to brown, and much more.

This book contains an assortment of makeup tips that are used by Asians who wish to enhance their facial structures but can also be used by anyone who wishes to learn how to apply makeup that flatters Asian features.  While it contains many tips, it doesn’t have any suggestions on brands for different products. I assume this is because of the vast array of brands in the marketplace and the colors they offer is so varied that it becomes a personal choice.

The book addresses many of the issues Asian women face when applying their makeup, such as how to apply eye shadow on monolids (often overlooked by Western makeup artists) so that you look like a picture perfect model on the cover of major fashion magazines.  You will learn the steps for everyday application of makeup and a few tricks to give your look a boost when you are out on the town. Consisting of six parts the first is title “Beauty School” where Chang explains the basics (makeup, tools, brushes) that are utilized to achieve different looks throughout the book all with detailed explanations of what they are and how to use them.  She spends some time focusing on skin care with beauty tips  like maintaining that glow in your face with proper cleansing.  Also included, is the proper application of makeup and simple tricks and how-tos such as “How to Apply False Eyelashes to Asian Eyelashes” all complemented with bright colorful pictures used throughout the book.

Chang provides  tips on how to properly apply makeup to achieve different looks. She also gives suggestions on which shades to select for the perfect look for your occasion or how to create a more definite jaw line to contour your face.  It’s a guide written specifically for Asian women, which has been  typically difficult to find.

The “Asian Faces” guide is very useful and can be used by novices and pros alike. It has a ton of great looks to try out that can be applied to Asian faces of all ages, skin tones, and backgrounds.  I especially love the aspects where she teaches you how to create the illusion of flawless skin and the proper application of eye shadow.   This information is important for anyone wanting to look like they just stepped out of a beauty salon.

It is a really empowering book for Asian women, you won’t be disappointed with the beauty tips given for Asian skin tone or eyes. I have been looking for a book like this for a long time!

How to fill in your Asian eyebrows

Asian Makeup Asian Makeup , Asian Makeup | | In: Latest

Eyebrows help to define the shape of the eye and help one to express emotions. Even though Asians tend to have full heads of hair, when it comes to eyebrows they’re very sparse. Follow these Steps to obtain a full brow.

What you will need:
- Eyebrow pencil
- Eyebrow Brush
- Eye shadow (matches brows color)
- Eye shadow (a shade darker then brows(optional))
- Eyebrow gel or hairspray

1) Select an eyebrow pencil
If your eyebrows are very fair select a pencil, which is one shade darker. If your eyebrows are fairly thick but with sparse areas select a pencil that’s the exact shade as your eyebrows. Use a pencil with a soft tip; pencils with hard tips tend to be too harsh and waxy. If you have a pencil with a tip that is too hard rub the tip together between your fingers. This should soften it.

2) Prep the brow
Comb out the brows with a clean eyebrow brush. This will help you to better examine your eyebrows and find the areas, which are sparse. When buying your eyebrow pencil it will usually come with an eyebrow brush. If you don’t have one you can pick one up at any drugstore or you can use a soft toothbrush.

3) Decide on a brow shape
Do you want a slim brow or a fuller brow? A slimmer brow makes you seem more mature and a thicker brow will make you seem innocent. Using your eyebrow pencil you can find out where your natural brow line should be. Line up your pencil with the side of your nose and the end of your eye. The pencil should fall where the natural end of your eyebrow should be. Repeat this twice, instead lining it with your pupil to get the natural arch and the inner corner of your eye to get the inner end of your brow.

4) Fill in sparse parts of brows
Using your eyebrow pencil fill in the sparse areas by feathering short strokes in the direction that the hair is growing. Do not pencil in the entire brow, this will create an unnatural look. Use an eyebrow brush to blend out the pencil.

5) Apply eye shadow which matches brows
Follow up with an eye shadow, which will even out the brows. Using an angled brush apply the eye shadow lightly over the entire brow. If you are taking pictures pay close attention to the outer ends of your eyebrows, eyebrows tend to washout when taking pictures. To avoid this mishap you can use two different shades of shadow instead of one.

6) Set brows
Set eyebrows in place by using an eyebrow gel or brushing your eyebrows out of using hairspray and using your finger and brush onto brows.

Asian Makeup Tips: How to achieve a fuller lash using makeup

Asian Makeup Asian Makeup , Asian Makeup | | In: Latest

Asians generally have full heads of hair but have sparse eyebrows and eyelashes. If you have sparse eyelashes here’s a tip that will make it seem like you have fuller lashes using makeup.

What you will need:
- Concealer
- Eyeliner (gel-liner)
- Eyeliner brush
- False Lashes (optional)
- Eyelash Curler
- Volumizing Mascara

1) Conceal under-eye circles and puffiness
Use a concealer which will help to correct any discoloration in the under eye. To neutralize under eye circles use a color base accordingly:
- If you have a purple shade under the eye use a concealer with a yellow base.
- If you have a red shade or puffiness under the eye use a concealer with a green base.
- If you have veins with a bluish or greenish tint use a pink based concealer there.
Follow up with a concealer that matches your skin tone.

2) Line your upper lid
Use a gel eyeliner to line the upper lid of your eye starting small in the inner corner of your eye and gradually thicken the line as it gets closer to the outer edge of your eye while keeping it as close as you can to your lashes. Use a brush and a liner or a dark eye shadow and apply it in between your lashes. This mimics the way lashes look naturally.

3) Apply false lashes (if needed)
If you’re new at applying false lashes it is easier to use Strip lashes. Later on when you get the hang of it try using separate flares. Separates are more natural looking seeing as they are smaller and shorter. You can place them wherever they are needed. (See How to apply False Lashes for Help)

4) Curl lashes
If your lashes tend to uncurl during the day and you would like to keep your lashes curled for longer try heating the eyelash curler. Use a hair dryer to warm up the eyelash curler but be sure not to heat it up too hot. They become very hot and can burn your eyelashes and skin. Using an eyelash curler whether heated or not will help to curl your lashes and bind the false lashes closer to your natural lash line. Keeping them even.

5) Apply Mascara
Apply a volumizing mascara to your lashes. Keep your eyes open and look straight, while applying the mascara gently wiggle the mascara wand to evenly coat the lash until the end. Two coats of mascara is ideal, wait until the first layer has dried to apply the next. This will further thicken and lengthen your lashes and bond the false lashes with your natural lashes.
